Dawn lives with her family on a "ranchette" in the volcanic high-desert plateau of Central Oregon, where there is a wealth of animal and landscape material to paint from. She facilitates a figure drawing open studio at Central Oregon Community College throughout the school year, teaches pastel workshops, and is always looking for excuses to travel to find inspiration. She also practces and teaches the martial art of Aikido, which she and her spouse have done for many years. "Aikido grounds and inspires me. With both Aikido and painting I am constantly learning and growing, ever amazed and humbled by the most simple things in life."
